Well, this is certainly unexpected. When I told Hannah to let Mr. McKnight know we went to the park, I didn’t intend for him to come along. Mostly because I never in a million years thought he would. I’ve learned a lot from Hannah in my first week working as Christopher’s nanny. He’s quiet, he keeps to himself, and he rarely leaves his office long enough for fifteen minute’s worth of conversation. Other than his gym routine and dinner with the kids (sometimes), he works, works, and works some more.

And the only time he ever eats lunch outside his office is if he’s doing so for a meeting with business partners.

So, I’m surprised, to say the least. Shocked is more like it.

“I thought I’d join you for the picnic,” he says slowly, almost as if he’s amazed at himself for saying the words. He points to the empty picnic basket. “Though it looks like I may have missed that part.”

“Sorry,” I say. “We finished eating and decided to check out the playground. You girls love it, don’t you?”

Nina and Alison cheer and beam up at Christopher. I wish he could understand how much they adore him. Maybe if he did, he’d take more time away from his work to spend time with them, take them to the park himself instead of relying on a stranger to do it all. I’m more than happy to take care of the twins, but I can tell they’d be much happier if Christopher was around much more than he is.

“That’s wonderful to hear, girls.” He kneels down to their eye level. “Why don’t you show me what your favorite part of the playground is.”

They jump at the opportunity, running straight for the slide on the opposite side of the playground. Christopher shields his eyes and watches, though I feel as if half of his attention is still directed toward me. I could be imagining it, of course, because I've been thinking of him non-stop for days. I spent the entire weekend going over the bedroom incident, trying to figure out what the hell happened between us.

Because I still don’t know.

Sure, he took off my bra, but then he didn’t make a move. Who does that? Christopher McKnight apparently. And since he would do such a thing, I’m starting to think he wasn’t trying to get in my pants the way I desperately wanted. He’s an odd man. Maybe he didn’t see it the same way I did. Maybe to him it was just another day at the office.

“I hope you aren’t avoiding me because of what happened,” he says, finally breaking the silence between us.

Okay, so he’s going to bring it up after all.

I can do this, I think. I can talk this through without revealing how aroused he made me feel, how desperately I want to feel his hands rubbing on my tits and on my clit. I've been fantasizing about it since Friday.

“I’m not avoiding you,” I say, though it isn’t entirely true.
